A set of 11 drawings on paper, Menopause addresses one of the
most universally shared and yet socially and medically
marginalized transformations affecting the female body. Created in 1986 as the artist was going through menopause, it had not been exhibited until 2025. As such, it is emblematic of Nil Yalter’s contemplation of
her own body as an everchanging material and vessel for
creation, perception, representation, transformation and
demise.
