“Miraculous Flower” is a series of four ceramic sculptures depicting, through a fragment of the lower body, four movements from the choreography of ‘Peshrev’, the ceremony preceding traditional Turkish wrestling. The training of the athlete's body meets the shaping of the material: produced in close collaboration with a wrestler from the Turkish federation and craftsmen from the Gorbon ceramics company in Istanbul, the sculpture is the result of a long process of plaster casting a body fragment. Chosen as a reference to Aladdin's genius, the blue color of the legs reveals the artifice of racial and orientalist projections, while the sculptures serve as vases for bouquets of fresh tulips, pushing to the limit the tension between presupposed form and function.
