Portrait of the transgender friend of the artist Simone. With her hand she is doing the gesture of estrogen, a gesture she does multiple times in a day. It is also a detail from Le Printemps, another painting of Apolonia Sokol inspired by Sandro Botticelli, a painting highlighting fertility. Focusing on the fertility of transgenders, Sokol considers them even more fertile then the rest as they’re capable of giving birth to themselves. Sokol believes in an inclusive feminism and thus, emphasizes the gravity of representation of transgenders.
