Art Basel: Paris
The solo presentation brings together a large-scale installation, a sculpture, and a series of drawings that together reflect the artist’s ongoing exploration of the body as both a spatial and relational force. Conceived as a continuation of Papadimouli’s monumental installation Idiopolis, commissioned by the 17th Lyon Biennial, the Idiot series takes its title from the Greek word idiotis, which designates the singularity of each individual as a distinct character within broader social and collective bodies, and invites for a playful understanding of the self and the other. The installation unfolds as an elastic, modular structure designed to be both worn and inhabited, inviting the body to become an active agent in shaping abstract, collective forms. In dialogue with this sculptural environment, the drawings transcribe in rhythmic, choreographic notations the movements and spatial configurations of participants in 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐢’s scripted performances, mapping gestures and relations as living scores. Through these interrelated works, the artist deepens her investigation into the politics of the body and the ways in which material, movement and environment generate new forms of connection. By treating abstraction as an embodied and social practice, 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐢 reimagines the space of art as a site of negotiation, between bodies, gestures and boundaries, where ephemeral communities emerge and dissolve through shared motion and spatial invention.
